The Leisure Pass Group announce their new line-up for the London Pass

Creators of sightseeing ‘smart’ cards, the Leisure Pass Group, have added a host of new attractions to their London Pass that will be featured in their new guidebook available from 1 June 2004. The attractions and additional benefits will take the value of the London Pass to over £480 for the first time, making it the one must-have purchase for any visitor to London.

The new attractions featured in the London Pass scheme are the National Maritime Museum, Apsley House, Vinopolis and the Sherlock Holmes Museum.

Visitors to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich will receive free entry to the Tintin Exhibition currently running, so they can enjoy the adventures of this intrepid journalist created by Belgian author Hergé. Featuring the author’s original artwork and museum objects, Tintin’s adventures from the North Pole to the Caribbean are brought to life.

Apsley House has been colloquially known as ‘No 1 London’ for over 200 years and was home to the first Duke of Wellington and his descendants. Its sumptuous interiors house the Duke’s outstanding collection of paintings, porcelain, silver, sculpture, furniture, medals and memorabilia. London Pass holders will receive free entrance to this fascinating building and exhibition.

Fans of Sherlock Holmes will be able to pay homage to the great detective by visiting his fictional home at 221b Baker Street. The house where author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle based the detective is now open as a museum with the interior being faithfully maintained for posterity exactly as described in the stories.

If the visitor feels in need of refreshment, what better to do but explore Vinopolis, a whole attraction devoted to the world of wine? London Pass holders receive free entrance with a classic tour, including 5 wine tastings and a special Bombay Sapphire cocktail.

Further discoveries of the culinary kind can be made with the new added benefits included in the London Pass. From a free starter or desert with any main adult meal at Harry Ramsden’s world famous fish and chips restaurant to a £5 discount when ordering two courses from the à la Carte menu at Maxwell’s Restaurant in Covent Garden, there’s something to cater for everyone’s taste. Lovers of traditional English fare will not be disappointed at Porters English Restaurant, where London Pass holders receive a complimentary glass of champagne or a pint of real ale when ordering two courses from the main menu, while Navajo Joe’s, which boasts the largest selection of Tequilas outside of Mexico, will give visitors holding a London Pass £5 towards the cost of two courses from the à la Carte menu.

Commenting on the new additions to the London Pass, Founding Director Angus Rankine said: “Our team at the Leisure Pass Group is constantly working on making the London Pass even better value for the visitor. The fact that it is now worth over £480 shows that we’re succeeding with this mission. We are delighted to be presenting such an excellent line-up for the new season.”

Besides increasing the attractions and benefits included in the London Pass, the Leisure Pass Group has also recently launched the London Business Card, a privilege card aimed at the business traveller to London.
