London Pass goes walkabout for Just a Drop
Leisure Pass Group gives away pedometers for WTM charity challenge
To support the official World Travel Market charity, Just a Drop, the Leisure Pass Group are launching the very first London Pass Pedometer Challenge. Pedometers have been given out to 50 travel industry personalities with the aim of finding out who takes the most steps during the first two days of WTM. Participants are encouraged to donate £5 in return for taking part in the challenge and the person who takes the most steps by Tuesday evening will win a prize.
The aim of this event is to raise the awareness for the plight of many people in the developing world who do not have access to clean water and to raise funds for them. Women in Africa and Asia walk on average six kilometres a day to fetch fresh water for their families and themselves. Participants in the Pedometer Challenge will be able to compare how far they walk every day, as the device will take note of every step they take.
Angus Rankine, Founding Director of the Leisure Pass Group commented, “We all moan about the distances we walk at trade shows, so it will be a fascinating experiment to find out how far people actually walk and it is anywhere near to how far people in other parts of the world walk to find clean water. We are delighted to have this opportunity to show our support for Just a Drop and hope that we will be able to make a valuable contribution to their efforts.”
The London Pass Pedometer Challenge hopes to raise enough funds to provide 250 children with clean water for 10 years.
