Leisure Pass Group Win Tourism Oscar
English Tourism Council awards The Leisure Pass Group with
Top Marketer in Tourism accolade The English Tourism Council (ETC) today announced
that The Leisure Pass Group, creators of the UKs only all-inclusive tourist
passes using smart card technology, were awarded a top accolade for Marketing
in Tourism at the Excellence in England Awards.
The award is aimed at an organisation that demonstrates the greatest innovation
and achievement in launching a new product or destination. In particular, judges
select companies that demonstrate a clear understanding of the market, innovative
marketing plan and creative use of new media.
Were delighted the ETC has recognised our work and the launch of our
smart city passes last year, exclaimed Angus Rankine, founding
director of The Leisure Pass Group. Presented with the award by Sue Lawley, Mr
Rankine had this to add, As with everyone in the industry, it has been a
tough year, we worked really hard; its rewarding to be chosen among peers
for the dedication.
The Leisure Pass Group was selected over numerous entries and two other short-listed
companies, and was the only entrant from London to win. The company was selected
for its overall marketing plan in the launch of a number of city passes. The Bath
Pass and The York Pass were launched in July 2001 and have sold over 20,000 passes
since their launch. The Excellence in England Awards, known as the 'Oscars for
Tourism', recognise English tourism businesses that excel in their field.
