Pretty in Plastic
Fashion Design students at York College have been commissioned
to produce two outfits based on The York Pass, a new smart card for
visitors to York.
Sharon McAra-James, course leader said, This is an ideal opportunity for
our students to gain some real-life design experience. They have been able to
express their creativity, using a range of materials including some innovative
work with plastic. We are all very proud of the results.
Emma Wiseman and Hannah Spearing, who have just completed their National Diploma
in Fashion Design at York College, have designed two outfits. One is based on
a cowboy theme, the other a traditional two-piece, and incorporate over 200 copies
of The York Pass.
Andrew Grahame, director of the Leisure Pass Group, operators of The York Pass
said, this is an innovative 21st century product for York. Our brief to
the students was to be creative in the way they reflected these qualities
this they have certainly achieved.
The ground-breaking Pass is the first of its type for York, and once purchased
offers visitors free access over one, two or three days to more than 30 attractions
in York and the surrounding area. Prices start at £21 for a one-day adult
pass, and represent considerable savings and convenience for visitors.
The York Pass can be purchased in the UK via the web site: www.yorkpass.com,
over the telephone 0870 242 9988, or in person at the Tourist Information Centre
in York.
