Summer is finally here! As the weather hots up, the sun shines and the rain holds off, London is a hive of activity again. Playing host to world-class sporting events, together with music and arts festivals, our visitors are finding there is no better time to discover the sights and delights that London has to offer.

Angus Rankine meeting HM The Queen
By Royal Approval

The Britain Visitor Centre has recently been renamed The Britain & London Visitor Centre, and was officially opened by HM The Queen at a ceremony held on 10th June 2003. The name change better reflects the purpose of the centre, because of the introduction of a new London information area.

The Britain & London Visitor Centre is the central redemption point for online London Pass purchases, and Founding Director Angus Rankine, with London Pass in hand, was there to meet Her Majesty. Angus had a few minutes with Her Majesty and used the time to discuss tourism in London, and of course, The London Pass!

‘The London Pass Challenge’

Visit London’s ‘Totally London’ marketing campaign was launched towards the end of March this year. The objective of the campaign is to get Londoners out and about in London, visiting attractions, museums and galleries, eating out in restaurants and enjoying all there is to see and do in London. This campaign is now to roll out to a nationwide audience, with the short-haul markets of Europe to follow.

The London Pass has been integral to the Totally London campaign. Aside from placing various reader competitions in a variety of newspapers, we developed ‘The London Pass Challenge’ for Totally London month. Featured in London’s Metro newspaper for an entire week, The London Pass Challenge involved readers of the newspaper entering a daily prize draw. Each day 20 pairs of three day Passes were on offer, and winners of the Passes were invited to use their cards on the last Bank Holiday weekend in May. The winning pair who visited the most attractions over that weekend won a two night stay at the London Marriott Hotel, County Hall.

Congratulations to competition winner Dinesh Vaghela

Public Transport Survey

We recently carried out a survey of 2000 previous online customers to find out their perceptions of London’s public transport system. The end result provided us with some very interesting information.

A press release containing this information was distributed to over 200 members of the press. These facts were written up extensively, with London’s Metro and Financial Times featuring the story.

www.europeancitycards.com

European Cities Tourism, the organisation dedicated to promoting city tourism across Europe recently launched their new site www.europeancitycards.com. The site brings together all of the city passes throughout Europe with London as the centrepiece, and offers travellers to the region ease of purchase for all their sightseeing needs prior to departure.

A number of passes can be purchased online through the site, with full purchase details available for all passes. The site is of particular use to those travelling from Asia or America, as research shows that visitors from these regions tend to visit several cities across Europe throughout their trip.
